Ideal for medium to large sized listening rooms, the handsome, slim fronted, smooth sounding  B&W 684 S2 floorstanding speaker has a 2 1/2 way configuration with a dedicated bass driver, a separate improved Kevlar upper bass/ midrange unit with anti-resonance plug and finally a decoupled double-dome tweeter handling high frequencies.

Using trickle-down technology from higher ranges of Bowers & Wilkins speakers, both bass and bass/ midrange cones are constructed from a very stiff but lightweight material called woven kevlar, similar material is used extensively in Formula 1 racing cars. The Nautilus loaded tweeter unit is a twin aluminium dome, and features a special surround material which allows this design to sound both detailed and extremely spacious in the high register, and is also protected from accidental damage by a perforated steel grille.

As the drive units are of such good quality, a minimal crossover can be employed which removes another barrier between your ears and the music, whilst improving power handling and sensitivity.

In the listening experience, these towers can play loud but also reveal subtle musical details that will astonish you. Bass is extended and tight, midrange has great neutrality whilst stereo soundstage is truly three dimensional. The high frequencies are sweet, detailed and yet smooth to the ear.

The B&W 684 S2 is a superb performer both on music and as the main front speakers in a home cinema system, and are available black ash or white finishes with matching plinth, which aids stability on carpeted floors.
