Onkyo, the market leader in home cinema separates, has just announced four new AV receivers designed to keep the brand at the top of customers wish lists when it comes to buying a new AV receiver or upgrading.
First up at £299 is the entry level Onkyo TX-SR313. This is the only model in the Onkyo range not to feature networking/ internet streaming functionality. On offer for the price is 5 x 130W of WRAT amplification (wide range amplifier technology), six HDMI inputs, one HDMI output, compatibility with 3D and HD sound, audio return channel, a front USB socket to connect to your iDevice, and a neat On Screen Display to ease setup and adjustment of sound and settings.
Spending £100 more on the Onkyo TX-NR414 at £399 gets you network connectivity, increased power from 100W to 130W x 5, six HDMI inputs and iOs or Android control using an App. One novel feature is picture in picture of all sources connected to the HDMI inputs, allowing you to see at a glance all of your current entertainment options. Energy concious owners also get HDMI pass through when the receiver is in standby, useful when you want sound from your TV but not surround sound via the receiver.
£499 for the Onkyo TX-NR515 adds two additional amplification channels and two subwoofer outputs to give 7.2 surround sound. The dual subwoofer outputs allow you to use two smaller subs rather than one large one, for a more tight, focused bass plus potentially easier to hide in your listening room. 8 HDMI in's and 2 outs allow you more than enough connectivity to high definition sources and you can feed your TV and Projector simultaneously in different rooms if required. Video upscaling to 4K2K is also on offer thanks to Marvell's Qdeo chip, treating you to a detailed vibrant image you might not have imagined possible.
The next price point is £599 for the Onkyo TX-NR616 the extra cost gets you more power (7 x 165W) and err, thats about it over and above the 515!
