We were recently given the privilege to help a customer get his Xtension 10 started!
The customer had bought an Xtension 10 turntable, with a Blue Rondo cartridge and a Project Phono Box, connected with a pair of AudioQuest Tower interconnects. We popped round to help him set it up.
The Xtension 10 is a heavy piece of kit! When in the crate, the total weight measured 50 kilos, luckily the customer had a sturdy stand/rack to put the turntable on.
Once the crate had been carried into the customer's living room, and the top was removed - we were greeted by a selection of user manuals and the signed "Quality Control Declaration", which notes the various checks the turntable underwent before being shipped from the factory
The plinth of the turntable! We attached the feet to the base unit, then put it gently on to the customer's hifi rack. It takes position above his John Shearne amp, power amp and his Naim CD player.
Once the platter and belt had been attached, the next process was adding the Ortofon Blue Rondo cartridge to the tone-arm. This was a delicately fiddly process.
After the cartridge was attached to the Evolution tone-arm, the cartridge needed to be aligned. We used a Van Den Haul alignment gauge.
Success! After wiring in a ProJect Phono Box to assist the amplifier with the analogue signal, we sat down and relaxed with a cup of tea and listened to some warm and clear Jamiroquai, which sounded excellent through the customer's B&W floorstanders.
