Rubicon is DALI’s high performance series, utilising materials and techniques from their flagship Epicon range to produce world class loudspeakers.
Rubicon features the latest iteration of DALI’s SMC based ‘Linear Drive System’, creating a high excursion yet low distortion driver which is handmade at their factory in Denmark. The woofer motors in Rubicon speakers feature a pole piece constructed entirely of DALI’s patented SMC material. This Soft Magnetic Compound, is a coated magnetic granule material which can be easily shaped and moulded. The benefits of using SMC, instead of the traditional iron magnets found in conventional speakers, is a significant reduction in distortion and a much more transparent & lifelike sound.
Rubicon LCR, VOKAL, 5, 6 & 8 feature DALI’s hybrid tweeter module, a combination of soft dome & ribbon tweeter for a wide dispersion of clear high frequencies which outperforms any other tweeter technology. The soft dome tweeter provides high power handling and headroom for high sound pressure levels, while the ribbon tweeter provides wide dispersion and a fast, open top end which reaches frequencies far beyond the audible range, affecting lower harmonics and improving the cohesiveness of the sound.
As with every DALI speaker, all Rubicon speakers feature a variation of their low loss wood fibre driver encased in an aluminium chassis. The version found in Rubicon speakers takes design inspiration from DALI’s flagship Epicon range, with a lightweight low-loss rubber surround, powerful SMC based drive system & a stiffer yet lighter wood fibre material. This incredibly lightweight and rigid wood fibre composite is designed to have a randomly uneven structure which dramatically reduces surface resonance and distortion.
Rubicon’s sturdy cabinets are designed, machined & built by hand in Denmark. Each driver is separated into its own chamber with a bass reflex port positioned directly behind each one, reducing internal turbulence and ensuring the timing between driver and bass port is optimised. These cabinets are available in a choice of four stunning finishes, including; High-Gloss White, High-Gloss Black, Rosso & Walnut.
