Dynavector 10x5 Mk2 Moving Coil Cartridge
The 10×5 MkII is a 2.8mV High-Output Moving coil cartridge, meaning that you do not require a moving coil phono stage to use it. This is a very desirable option for anyone looking to improve on their moving magnet cartridge without the additional cost of a new phono stage. The cartridge uses a Nude "Shibata III" stylus
Key Features
- High and Low Output option
- No complicated MC loading is required for High output version
- Dynavectors exclusive Magnetic Flux Dampening Design
- Improved Nude Diamond Shibata 3 Stylus Profile
- Powerful rare-earth neodymium magnets
- Unrivalled coil winding technology with increased coil windings
A number of exclusive technologies such as Softened Magnetism and powerful neodymium magnets, Magnetic Flux Damping & a new hardened cantilever material help the 10x5 MKII ensure correct & stable tracking ability even on the most difficult albums.
Legendary Dynavector coil-winding technology uses the finest wire and has enabled Dynavector to minutely increase the coil windings to reduce impedance to 150ohms whilst retaining a hearty 2.8mV of output. Mounting the cartridge to the tonearm is achieved by bolting the rigid, aluminium head-block to the headshell via supplied bolts & key.
Shibata shape distinguishes itself by having the necessary small contact surface at the horizontal level for playback of the ultra-high frequencies found on CD-4 records. At the vertical level, the special shape of the stylus gives a wider contact surface than is the case with either spherical or elliptical styli. This means that a Shibata-shaped stylus, in spite of its high-frequency capabilities, gives less record wear than the traditional stylus shapes. The more complex shape of the Shibata allows a long vertical line of contact to be achieved with the groove wall, this gives you improved high frequency and less wear on both your record and the stylus itself.
Mounting the cartridge to the tonearm is achieved by a rigid red aluminium head block that provides a stable platform for the cartridge along with easy and secure fixing to the tonearm.
This cartridge is often on demo in our Hereford shop and can be listened to on any of our demo turntables on request or if you wish to bring your own turntable for a listen, that can be arranged.
Who is Dynavector?
