Naim Hi-Cap

In adding a Naim Audio HiCAP DR regulated power supply to your Naim preamplifier, active crossover or phono stage, you are allowing the resulting signal path to deliver the best sound quality possible, due to hugely reduced noise and magnetic interference effects on the fragile audio signal. HICAP DR achieves this reduced noise level by housing all of the high-power components( transformer, bridge rectifiers, large capacity reservoir capacitors and the 24V dc discrete regulator circuitry) in a stand-alone, non-magnetic, vibration-resistant half-width aluminium enclosure, which also allows remote placement away from sensitive phono stages and preamps. In addition, internal wiring paths have been optimised by human listening sessions, whilst large rubber feet isolate the whole unit mechanically from any mechanically transmitted vibration. Naim engineers spent considerable time measuring the electrical performance of 'off-the-shelf' industry-standard packaged regulator solutions, such as the LM7824 integrated voltage regulators in terms of voltage stability under load, and their ability to deliver the required current to the load. They rejected existing solutions, and instead developed their much applauded DR (discrete regulator) circuit topology which improves on every technical aspect of packaged regulator solutions.

Four 24V dc outputs are available on the rear panel, via DIN connectors, to power your Naim preamplifier or phonostage. In fact, the Naim NAC282 preamplifier can be further upgraded by adding two HiCap DRs for even better performance.

Who is Naim?

Naim Audio has a special place in British audio, thanks to its founder and inspirational leader Julian Vereker, a hugely talented mechanical and electronic engineer with a passion for, amongst many things, music. Founded in 1973, Naim has always had a firm philosophy of music first, measurements second - each Naim product is extensively auditioned as part of the product development process to make sure that it delivers clear, emotional music-making ability.

Naim products are designed to bring the closest facsimile of a live music event into your home listening environment, to give you maximum pleasure from your music collection. Many of the Naim products are evolutions of previous designs, incorporating sometimes quite small changes to the mechanical or electronic design - however, these incremental changes make a large overall improvement in the musical performance of each product. Unlike other audio brands, built-in obsolescence is not part of the plan. Naim products can often be upgraded in performance by the addition of several different levels of an external power supply. In this way, the owner of a Naim component can upgrade their system without having to continually sell existing equipment.
