Ortofon Quintet Blue Cartridge
While Moving Magnet cartridges tend to offer a more relaxed, warmer sound, Moving Coils are known for offering a better level of detail and a wider stereo field than the Moving Magnet alternatives. Moving Coil Cartridges will often require an external phono-stage specific to their construction. Ortofon is committed to delivering the best quality cartridges for your turntable, in an effort to offer the most refined and exquisite analogue sound quality. Ortofon have introduced around 100 different moving coil cartridge models since 1948, with the newest range being the colourful and capable Quintet Series.
Ortofon believes that the new Quintet range is more than qualified to be the worthy successor to the vast line of high-quality turntable cartridges they've developed previously, and just by consulting the specifications - it's not hard to see why. The Quintet series has been described as possessing its 'own individual sonic expression', and each of the five models together represents the team of five classic models.
The Quintet Blue moving coil cartridge from Ortofon is extremely homologous and has been designed to provide a smoother sound reproduction than its entry-level brother, the Quintet Red while offering moderate strength in dynamic when compared to its superior, the Quintet Bronze. The Blue utilises a nude Elliptical diamond, which is mounted upon an aluminium cantilever and brings a more spacious sound, topped with more depth and detail than other cartridges at its price point. The Blue will bring any genre or style of music to life but truly thrives within a rhythmic domain.
Who is Ortofon?
Ortofon is a Danish manufacturer of high-quality phono cartridges, designed to get the very most out of your vinyl collection from a variety of price points. Ortofon cartridges, both Moving Magnet and Moving Coil configurations are commonly found supplied with high-quality ProJect turntable models, but Ortofon cartridges sound exceptional with any compatible turntable
Moving Coil cartridges feature an inverted version of the Moving Magnet design. Instead of a magnet sitting on the end of the cantilever between two coils, the coils are attached to the cantilever and a magnet is placed near them. Because space within the cartridge at this level is extremely limited, the coils are made from exceptionally fine wire. The coil's tiny size results in very low output.
