Play-Fi Platform
The Artera Solus Play is a state-of-the-art device powered by the DTS Play-Fi platform. This platform enables high-quality wireless audio throughout your home, supporting hi-res music streaming up to 24-bit/192kHz. The Play-Fi app, available for multiple operating systems and devices, acts as an intuitive gateway to an array of music services like Spotify, Tidal, Amazon Music, and more. It also allows access to a streaming library stored on any DLNA-compatible NAS drive or media server within the same home network. Additionally, you can assign favourite playlists and radio stations as shortcut ‘presets’ within the app.
Connectivity and Compatibility
The Artera Solus Play supports voice-controlled playback with its Works With Alexa feature when paired with any Amazon Alexa-equipped device. A wide variety of file formats, including MP3, MP4A, AAC, FLAC, WAV, and AIFF are supported by Play-Fi. The standard mode, optimised for multi-room bandwidth, streams audio at up to 16-bit/48kHz, akin to CD-quality. However, engaging Play-Fi’s Critical Listening Mode allows hi-res audio streaming up to 24-bit/192kHz over Wi-Fi or Ethernet cable, without transcoding or down-sampling. Apart from the Play-Fi app, music can be streamed to the Artera Solus Play wirelessly via Spotify Connect or aptX Bluetooth.
Expertly Engineered
Despite its simplicity, the Artera Solus Play boasts cutting-edge sophistication beneath the surface. Its core features the ES9018 Sabre32 Reference, a leading 32-bit, eight-channel hybrid multi-bit Delta-Sigma DAC chip, expertly implemented by Quad’s renowned electronics engineers. External sources can leverage this DAC’s exceptional quality through a range of digital inputs, handling PCM data up to 32-bit/384kHz as well as DSD64/128/256. This ensures the device is equipped for today’s hi-res music formats and future advances in ultra-high-definition digital sound. For CD replay, a slot-loading mechanism buffers data before feeding it to the asynchronous DAC section, and users can tailor sound from CDs and external digital sources with four digital filter options.
There is a range of both inputs and outputs on the rear of the unit both analogue and digital. The analogue and digital inputs include two optical, two coaxial, one USB B connection and one pair of RCA phono inputs. With the option to output via RCA phono or a balanced XLR, you can match up to existing equipment easily and conveniently.
What makes this one so special? Play-Fi DTS has been integrated into the Solus. You can now stream in high resolution using the Play-Fi app. This now opens the door to multiroom capabilities, which is perfect for you Audiophiles. The Artera Solus is already a solid performer, so there's no doubt that this will be a success.
