REL S/812 Subwoofer

REL's new S/812 subwoofer takes their medium-sized chassis to all-new, reference levels of performance, and it does so in style, with devastating power and speed. The S/812 delivers incredible levels of performance, in both music and theatre applications, giving customers a taste of what REL's reference models can offer, but at a fraction of the cost.

REL has completely examined and improved upon their S series subwoofers, to bring you two new subwoofers, the S/812 being one of them. Their requirements for the new subwoofers were for a stronger bass output between 20-35 Hz, Greater theatre dynamics and an even more spacious sound, benefiting both music and theatre applications.

They fitted this new subwoofer with a powerful 800 Watt Monoblock amplifier, modelled from their flagship models, producing a huge reservoir of power waiting to be unleashed. This 45% increase in power, over previous generations, meant that a light film of carbon fibre had to be added to the rear of the driver to handle the extra power. This carbon fibre backing produces two key benefits; It strengthens and stiffens the cone while also eliminating reversion, where the back wave inside the cabinet would interfere with the production of bass. This results in more accurate, powerful and smooth bass.

REL uses their new SuperProgressive™ passive radiator in the S/812, producing extremely long travel and incredibly high output while retaining stiffness and speed. This allows the subwoofer to act as a sealed, compact 12" box at low volumes while producing the explosive power of a high-output 14" box at its limit.

As seen in REL's reference series subwoofers, the S/812 is stackable. Providing depth and height of bass to your system, as in the real world. When stacking up to three units per side, the subwoofers will deliver elevated thumping bass to give a full-scale perspective of your favourite music or movies.

Who is REL?

REL subwoofers are engineered to deliver deep, powerful bass in both stereo and multi-channel systems. Even full-range loudspeakers can often not extend to the lowest bass frequencies, which reduces the impact and involvement for the listener in both music and movie playback.
