Wharfedale Evo-4.2 Bookshelf Speakers

Wharfedale's Evo4 Series uses materials and technologies from their flagship loudspeakers, delivering high-end performance without high-end price tags.

The Evo4.2 is the larger standmount speaker in the range, with a 6.5-inch woven Kevlar cone and Wharfedale's new AMT ribbon tweeter paired with a 2-inch soft-dome midrange driver, this speaker is incredibly well-balanced and powerful. This larger standmount speaker is perfect for mid-sized rooms. The whole range is available in high-quality wood finishes, covering a sturdy, well-built, curved cabinet.

The Evo4 Series sits between Wharfedales Award-Winning Diamond 11 Series and their forthcoming, flagship Elysian loudspeakers. This range was developed alongside the Elysian project and benefits from the same extensive research and development. With features rarely seen on products at this price point, such as the substantial, well-built cabinets, the beautifully curved sides and the sophisticated driver arrays.

Evo4's AMT high-frequency unit produces sound in a completely different way from conventional dome tweeters. The ribbon technology uses a large, pleated, lightweight diaphragm, driven by an array of magnets. This is an extremely efficient and accurate method of creating high-frequency sound, allowing the Evo4 Series to have an open and smooth-sounding top end, without being overly bright and harsh. This AMT ribbon tweeter is paired with a fast, responsive and detailed dome midrange driver. This soft fabric dome features extensive dampening, venting and a specially designed rear chamber, to allow the driver to sound incredibly detailed, with a wide dispersion to allow you to hear the music as intended, wherever you are seated. This midrange driver is found on all speakers within the Evo4 range, bar the Evo-4.1.

Low frequencies are handled by Wharfedale's low-distortion motor system, paired with woven Kevlar cones to deliver powerful bass that you can both hear and feel. This strong, lightweight kevlar makes the driver both fast and powerful, allowing for accurate and detailed bass which can reach impressively low and loud when needed. The Evo4's bass extension is then extended and improved by the most advanced version of Wharfedale's signature slot-loaded bass port yet. The SLPP or Slot Loaded Profiled Port is designed to extend the speaker's bass performance using a carefully designed port in the base of the speaker, which allows the Evo4 speakers to be much more forgiving with their placement, where most speakers would struggle with bass-output, the Evo4's will still shine.
